Zagreb
There are great
things to do in Zagreb,
Croatia
Zagreb is the largest city in
Croatia, and it is also the
capital. It is the center of the political, economic, and
cultural aspects of the Republic of Croatia. A great deal of
history also accompanies this city, which dates all the way
back to 1094. It is for these reasons that so many
vacationers come to the capital city every year. See also

A
panoramic view of the city of Zagreb, capital of
Croatia
When a newcomer to the Croatia is
vacationing in Zagreb for the first time, there are certain
things that they must see and do to get the full experience of
the city.
Cathedral
of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin
Mary

The
Cathedral of the Assumption of the Blessed
Virgin Mary, in
Zagreb |
This Cathedral, which can be seen
from just about any point in the city, is a beautiful
structure. The original building was constructed in 1242, and
has survived fires and earthquakes – with the help of some
reconstruction, of course. This is one of the most popular
sights in Zagreb and is something that every visitor should see
up close.
Zagreb City
Museum
Located in Old Town, a trip to the City
Museum should be on your itinerary. By tracing the area’s
development, it will give you a better sense of the history of
the city and the people who inhabit it. It is definitely worth
the price of admission.
Ethnological Museum
This very interesting museum shows what
life was like in the area long ago. It contains preserved
thatched houses and tools that were used for a variety of
different trades. Anyone who has even a passing interest in
history should visit this museum.
Mirogoj
Cemetery
While many people wouldn’t think that a
cemetery would make for an interesting vacation hotspot, the
ivy covered graves and monuments here are always a big tourist
draw. All of the famous people who have lived in Zagreb are
buried in this cemetery.
Zagreb
Restaurants
Food is just as much as part of a
vacation as anything else! You will find a number of different
restaurants in the city that serve up a variety of incredible
cuisine.
Vacationers in Zagreb will find many
more things to do than just those mentioned above. Daytrips to
nearby towns are always popular, which are great for seeing
what life in a smaller urban center is like. Whatever your
style, from checking out all of the historical sights to
finding great restaurants or even seeking out the nightlife,
you can find it all in Zagreb.
