When you think of party countries Croatia wouldn’t necessarily be top of your list but if you’ve heard rumours about it being a top party scene then they’re definitely true. It’s really drawn in the younger crowd during the Summer with plenty of festivals and parties that occur during the sunny season.
The music festival scene has really boomed in the last decade or so. The choice is huge where the incredible music is complemented with brilliant locations. Here’s a run through some of the best spots to go during the Summer music festival period in Croatia.

Probably one of the most popular and well-known festivals in Croatia, Hideout festival is all about the house, techno and grime scene with famous DJ’s and artists turning out to mass crowds. Even if those music genres don’t fancy your taste there’s still a great party atmosphere to enjoy. Famous artists and DJ’s that have been part of the line up include Stormzy, Diplo, Skream and Major Lazer. As well as the main festival predominantly being performed on the beachside the party also gets taken off-shore through boat parties where the party antics can continue. Hideout festival is held on Zrće beach, in town of Novalja.
Based in a garden site in town of Tisno (near island of Murter and Kornati National Park), Soundwave provides chilled vibes as you soak in the Summer sun and take in the variety of music it has to offer. Genres include house, hip-hop, reggae and more which provides a perfect setting to relax and sightsee around the local area. It sits alongside a coastal beach with crystal clear water and there’s an opportunity to hop on a boat to visit local islands. Artists and DJ’s who have been part of the line up include Roni Size, Jordan Rakei, Deftones and more.

If EDM music is your scene then look no further than the house-dance-trance festival that is Ultra Europe. It’s filled with pulsing beats, flashing lights and buzzing atmosphere making it ideal for high energy crowds. The lineups always live up to expectation with many famous DJs coming from all over the globe coming together in one place. DJs include David Guetta, Tiesto, Hardwell and Martin Garrix, just to name a few. Being such a popular event, there are packages available to cover the cost of your ticket, flights and hotel and it also hosts associated events on the side of the main event so dancing all night should be high on your agenda. Ultra Europe music festival is held on Poljud stadium, in the city of Split.
This is a festival that celebrates the underground sound system culture and has many attractions in the area which makes it a great social event. The main music scene it covers are genres like garage, hip-hop, reggae, dance and dubstep and is accompanied with live acts which are spread across 4 days. There are many clubs and pubs in the city of Pula which is nearby to allow the celebration to expand all night long and when you feel it’s getting a bit too much, there’s always a chance to do some exploration of the local attractions.

INmusic festival takes a more traditional approach to music with live guitar acts being the predominant form of culture. It has a mix of indie and rock acts that perform on stage in the city of Zagreb, putting it globally on the map and attracting some of the most well known and talented musicians. Line-ups in the past include Kings of Leon, Kasabian, Future Islands and Florence and the Machine. It’s based in a great location as the parties continue into the night with activities available in a modern campsite that’s open over 6 days whilst the festival is on. It's usually held in late June, at Lake Jarun, in Zagreb.
Whatever the occasion and crowd, Croatia’s festival season has the ideal party vibe for any person.
