Located on a group of scenic islands
This park is located in an archipelago of 14 scenic islands, a few kilometres from Istrian coastline, close to the city of Pula and its harbour. Once the site of vacation homes for Europe's aristocracies, from the Roman and Austrian empires' times, the area is steeped in history, as well as natural beauty.
Brijuni National Park is small group of islands known for its charm and beauty. The area is full of natural beauty, including a variety of flora and fauna as well as archeological sites. No wonder it was visited by many royalty, actors, sportsmen, and others, as one of the top holiday destinations on the Adriatic coastline.

Visit the Byzantine Castrum and Roman villa on Brijuni, explore the islands and enjoy the wide array of flora and fauna. Many of the plants and animals are not native to the area, being introduced by visiting royalty for their enjoyment.
You will also find the Brijuni Fortress an impressive sight and well worth exploring. It was built by the Austrian empire in the 2nd half of the 19th century, as one of the seven fortresses, to control northern access to Pula's harbour.
As are other villas, whose remnants are dating back to the Roman times and later Australian times, owing to the importance of the nearby Pula harbour.
The Brijuni National Park offers a number of accommodations which are not found on any other National Park. This includes three-star hotels, luxurious villas, and several attritions.
Netpun Hotel, Istra Hotel and Karmen Hotel are all located nearby. The closest mainland town is Fažana, which can be reached by buses from Pula city (line 21), some 8 kms away.
There are organized day tours from Fažana to Brijuni by boat transport, which is covered in the cost of the tour. The trip takes about 15 minutes.
This year Brijuni celebrates 35 years since it became National Park. Over 170,000 visitor come to the park annually.
